St. Pete Beach
St. Pete beach has long been confused with St. Petersburg Florida. It is, in fact, a separate community that split from St. Petersburg. The name St. Pete Beach incorporates the communities of Pass-A-Grille Beach, Don CeSar Place, Belle Vista Beach and St. Petersburg Beach. These areas are physically located on Long Island. St. Pete beach is indeed the proper name for this community and not St. Petersburg.
Around 1957 the four communities merged and formed the City of St. Petersburg Beach. Sometime later the communities wanted to create a separate identity and voted to shorten the name to St. Pete Beach.
St Pete BeachVisitors of the area will identify the beach community with one outstanding icon-- The historic Don CeSar landmark hotel. This Mediterranean inspired hotel once hosted well-bred guests of the 1920’s, then saw service as a hospital, and was later resurrected as an updated 275 room 10 story high luxury appointed hotel again. Thank goodness for the community’s foresight in saving the building.
The area is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico on the west, Boca Ciega Bay on the East, in addition to Mc Pherson Bayou.
Housing around Mc Pherson Bayou is a premier water front community with no fixed span bridges and quick access to Gulf of Mexico boating.
