Isla del Sol

Locals know about that formerly secret park known as Ft. Desoto. On the way to Ft. Desoto is a palm tree lined golf course and vacation home island a.k.a. Isla Del Sol. This ‘island of the sun’ is one of St. Petersburg’s best spots to enjoy the sun and Ft. Desoto while living next to the bay front.

Isla del Sol Florida Condos and Their History

Back in the 1970’s Isla Del Sol was owned by G.E. properties and meant to be a 36 hole golf course island. Vacationers lucked out because the island golf course was scaled back and various townhomes and condos were built. Point Brittany (now a 55 and up community) was meant to be the sole development.

Currently the island is dotted with townhomes along with towering condos like Bacopa Bay, Club Bahia and Vista Verde. You will find a pool per home owners association and tennis courts within sight of most residences. You will notice that palm trees, sea breezes, and boating is a standard way of life on the island.
